Maruti reports highest ever monthly sales
New Delhi: Indian car market leader Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday reported its highest ever monthly sales of 23.6 per cent for August at 104,791 units as compared to 84,808 vehicles for the like period of 2009.
According to the company, the domestic market for its cars grew at 32.5 per cent at 92,674 units in August as compared to 69,961 cars for the corresponding period of last year.
"This is the highest ever monthly sales recorded by the company," the company said in a statement. The company employed an aggressive marketing policy to regain its benchmark 50 per cent share of the domestic car market by launching six cars, including Alto-K10 and five compressed natural gas (CNG) models across segments.
While the domestic sales boomed, exports reported a decline of 18.4 per cent at 12,117 units from 14,847 units in August last year.
The company said its sales in the compact car A2 segment which comprises of Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star grew at 25.7 per cent and stood at 65,953 units over August 2009.
The auto giant also registered a growth of 34 percent in sales of its mid-sized (A3) segment comprising of SX4 and’D'Zire at 10479 cars.
