BCCI unlikely to sack skipper Dhoni
New Delhi: After unsubstantiated media reports emerged that Indian cricket team captain M S Dhoni might face the axe in the wake of his team's disastrous campaign at the ongoing T20 World Cup in West Indies, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has come out in his support. Sources in the BCCI have categorically rubbished media reports that Dhoni may lose his T20 and ODI captaincy because of India's lackluster performance in West Indies. The Board maintains that it would be unfair to hold only the captain responsible for the team's performance. Sources in BCCI tell CNN-IBN that the Board considers cricket as a team game and hence cannot put the blame on a single individual. India was knocked out of the T20 World Cup on May 11 after the lost the match against Sri Lanka, making it three straight losses in a row for the 2007 T20 World Champions.
