Sohrabuddin case: Johri files curative petition
Ahmedabad: In a dramatic twist to the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, IPS officer Geeta Johri has filed a curative petition in the Supreme Court alleging that policemen are being put under pressure to implicate Gujarat political heads involved in the case.
She has also demanded that special director of CBI Balwinder Singh be removed as a supervising officer citing conflict of interest.
Geetha insisted that Singh should be a witness in the case as she had questioned him earlier during her probe. At the time when Geetha was supervising the Sohrabuddin case, Balwinder Singh was police commissioner of Hyderabad. Geetha Johri said in her petition that the third person accompanying Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Kausar Bi was Nayeemudin alias Kalimuddin and it wasn't Tulsiram Prajapati.
Nayeemudin is an accused in the Haren Pandya murder case (former minister of state for home during Gujarat riots) and is absconding.
Geetha, in her petition, said that Andhra Pradesh police is trying to protect Kalimuddin because he functions as a police informer not only for AP police but also for the Central Bureau of Investigation.
