It happened in two seconds: Survivor of AI Plane crash


Mangalore: A survivor of the Mangalore plane crash said that the tragedy happened when the plane reached the runway.
"Within two seconds this happened," said Abdul Sattar, one of the few persons to survive the crash that took place in Mangalore on Saturday morning. "When I saw the left side (of the aircraft) open, I jumped outside. I pulled two persons from there," said Sattar.
Officials involved in the rescue and relief operations say that only eight people out of the 166 on board survived the crash.
Kasturba Medical College and Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Mahesh said that Puttur injured his knees as he jumped off from the plane.
"The survivor told me there were five survivors. One of the survivors rescued two others," Dr Mahesh told CNN-IBN.
He added that one of the survivors had badly injured his spine.
The Mangalore bound Air India Express flight coming in from Dubai with 166 people on board crashed early on Saturday killing 158 people. The Air India Express IX-812, operated by a Boeing 737-800, had 160 passengersand six crew members on board overshot the touchdown point on the Mangalore airport runway by 2000 feet on Saturday at 6:30 AM while attempting to land.
