CNN-IBN Exclusive at 8 pm: the Sohrabuddin tapes
New Delhi: The CBI's hopes to nail former Gujarat minister Amit Shah in the fake encounter killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh rest on a controversial video exclusively accessed by CNN-IBN.
The video -- now part of the CBI charge-sheet -- allegedly shows Shah's men desperately trying to clear his name and a senior Gujarat police officer pressing for a cover-up. But is the evidence strong enough to nail Shah? To know that watch an exclusive CNN-IBN report on 8 pm, Monday.
Sohrabuddin Sheikh was killed in a police encounter on November 26, 2005. Three days later his wife, Kausar Bi, was also killed. The Gujarat police had then claimed Sohrabuddin belonged to the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba and was planning to assassinate chief minister Narendra Modi to avenge 2002 riots.
Shah allegedly used his powers as Gujarat's Minister of State for Home to direct Sohrabuddin and Kausar Bi's murders. He quit from his post on Saturday and sent to 14-day judicial custody after being arrested by the CBI on Sunday.
