Crux of Kashmir issue lies in politics: Omar

New DelhiJammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah spoke exclusively to CNN IBN, saying the Centre must speak to all groups in Kashmir for lasting peace in the Valley. The CM blames the PDP together with the Lashkar-e-Taiba for the violence in the state.
Kashmir has been tense but there have been no recent incidents of violence over the last two days. CNN-IBN's Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai spoke to Omar Abdullah on the ongoing crisis in the Valley.
CNN-IBN: Do you agree that the situation is far from normal in Kashmir?
Omar Abdullah: The situation is far from normal, but it's better now. The Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti is fishing in troubled waters, but the civil society has rejected their bandh call. Please send one of your teams to Pahalgam and Baltal and see if the yatris feel harassed or not. The challenge that we face is to gradually lift curfew from tense areas.
CNN-IBN: You have given a statement where you have reached out to separatists and all shades of opinion in the Valley.
Omar Abdullah: The crux of the Kashmir issue lies in politics, it's not about jobs, roads and bridges and governance. The Centre has to find a solution through meaningful talks. It takes two hands to clap, separatists need to respond and the Indian government needs to take the dialogue to a meaningful point.
CNN-IBN: You are saying that it could be the LeT, anti-national elements, separatists, disaffected youth all have come together to make this combustible mix.
Omar Abdullah: Kashmir is a tricky melting pot. I won't discount the involvement of sections of mainstream polity of Kashmir. The PDP leaders' sons are actively involved in recent tension, I have credible information.
CNN-IBN: Do you believe the CRPF is responsible for this?
Omar Abdullah: To say this would be unfair. There have been incidents where excessive use of force has given rise to public anger, but blaming just the CRPF will be too simplistic.
