Sri Sri shooting: 'Target was dog not Guru'
Bangalore: One person has been detained for the shooting incident outside Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's ashram at Kanakapura Road on the outskirts Bangalore.
Addressing a press conference in Bangalore on Saturday Karnataka Director General of Police Ajai Kumar Singh said police have recovered a licensed .32 revolver from a person Dr Mahadeva Prasad living near Sri Ravi Shankar's ashram Art of Living and detained him. "We have cracked the case," said DGP Singh but quickly added that the firing incident was just an accident. Singh said that Prasad had reportedly fired at some dogs who were blocking his way.
Ballistic experts have also confirmed that bullets were fired from the revolver of Prasad, who has a licensed .32 revolver.
"Around 5:50 PM he was returning to Bangalore. Three-four dogs were blocking his way. It was an accident. Dr Mahadeva Prasad fired at dogs. Dr Mahadeva Prasad fired thrice to scare dogs. The bullet was aimed at dogs. One bullet entered AOL. It was just a stray bullet," said Singh.
"No offence has been made out and no arrest has been made. We just questioned him. He did not know that bullet had entered AOL," Singh added.
The DGP pointed out a bullet fired from a .32 revolver can travel a maximum distance of 4000 feet and the Ashram was situated just 2500 feet from the place where Prasad opened fire.
