Drunk CRPF man kills 6 colleagues, shot dead

Ranchi: A drunk Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable allegedly opened fire at his colleagueskilling six of them including an assistant commandant in the Saraikela district of Jharkhand on Friday night.
Constable Harpinder Singh of 196 Battalion of CRPF was on a sentry duty at around 10 pm when he opened fire indiscriminately killing six of his colleagues.
As Harpinder Singh continued to fire, CRPF personnel at the camp shot him dead at 2 am, a CRPF officer said. Six CRPF personnel including Assistant Commandant Bisahu Singh have been killed in the firing.
An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
Past cases of fratricide in CRPF:
In October 2009, a constable killed two colleagues and injured two others following a verbal altercation in Kokernag, in Kashmir. In April 2008, a CRPF personnel deployed near the Vaishno Devi shrine in Udhampur district shot dead his company commander and another constable using a service weapon in a fit of rage before committing suicide.
In November 2004, a CRPF man went on a rampage killing seven colleagues in Baramulla. He was gunned down in retaliatory fire.
