Bihar bandh begins, protestors blocked NH-30

Patna: A state-wide bandh called by the Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) in Bihar against fuel price hike began on Saturday morning.
Protester have blocked National Highway 30 and stopped the Danapur Tata Express train in Patna. They have also brought traffic to standstill in various parts of the city. However, the RJD had abstained from the Bharat Bandh called on July 5th by numerous other Opposition parties like the BJP, TDP, BJD, Left and Akali Dal.
Private operators suspended their bus services as a precautionary measure. The state-run buses were seen plying on the roads. Essential services including hospital, water supply and electricity have been exempted from the purview of the bandh, LJP leader Ram Vilas Paswan said. The bandh has also been called to protest against the alleged failure of the state and Centralgovernments to contain escalating prices of essential commodities and the Nitish Kumar government's alleged failure on all fronts.
