Abusive language on Facebook cost students dear

Vadodara: A Vadodara school has suspended six students of Classes X and XII for allegedly using abusive language on the social networking site Facebook. The school has also complained to the District Education Officer who has ordered an inquiry.
Parents of some of the students said a war of words broke out on a 'fan' page of the Convent of Jesus and Mary popular with students and alumni of the school after some students alleged that a teacher had conspired with some other students to rig the election of the Head Girl.
"Three girls, one from Class X and two from Class XII, started a thread in which they accused the schoolauthorities, a teacher and three other students of rigging the election," said a parent who declined to be identified. "The issue escalated after students backing the elected candidate replied using strong language."
The matter was brought to the notice of the school's newly-appointed Principal, Sister Mary, who reported it to District Education Officer S P Chaudhary.
