Cong, BJP deal on N-bill protecting Modi: Lalu

New Delhi: Lok Sabha was rocked on Wednesday by Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad's allegation of Congress promising relief for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the Sohrabudding Sin exchange for the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) backing on the Nuclear Civil Liability Bill.

Lalu alleged that the pay-off to the BJP was the clean chit given to Modi by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.
"Congress and BJP are together in this. How is it possible that the home minister will do something without the knowledge of the Chief Minister," said Lalu after the CBI decided not to pursue in the fake encounter case. Sources have told CNN-IBN that CBI investigating the case has no evidence to nail Modi in the case.
Lalu was supported by Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav with both the leaders alleging that Congress and BJP had entered a deal for the smooth passage of the Nuclear Civil Liability Bill.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm after uproar over the allegation and the Nuclear Liability Bill.
The Standing Committee report on the Nuclear Liability Bill was tabled in both Houses of Parliament on Wednesday. The allegations by RJD came after Tuesday's breakthrough on the Standing Committee report on the Bill with BJP supporting the Government on most issues like raising the compensation cap from Rs 500 to Rs 1500 crore.
The Left Front, however, is not happy and has given a three line dissenting note to the Standing Committee. The amendments will be taken up in the redrafted Bill in Parliament.
Sources say the Government is likely to extend the monsoon session to ensure that the Bill is passed.
