Pakistan violates ceasefire on LoC again
Jammu: Pakistani Army opened fire on Indian posts in Krishna Ghati sector in Mendhar area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir early on Thursday, army sources said. According to the Indian Army, this is the biggest ceasefire violation in the last one year.
Pakistani troops fired mortars and rockets directed toward the Indian and the firing continued for more than an hour, the sources said.
Indian Army suspects Pakistani troops were aiding infiltrators.The firing lasted for one and a half hours between 1.00 am to 2:30 am. The Army says it was done to facilitate cross-border infiltration. Meanwhile, no casualty has been reported so far. Pakistani Army had been violating the cease fire, which had come into effect in November 2003, to facilitate infiltration. Army sources said that Pakistani Army also wanted to cause tensions on the Line of Control.
Army PRO in Jammu Colonel Nath said that Pakistan Army is providing cover for infiltration.
"Heavy volumes of weapons were fired towards us," Col Nath added.

Pakistani troops fired at the Chak Pagwari Border port, killing a BSF trooper.
On July 6: Pakistani troops fired at Pindi, Mala Bela and Chak Phagwari border outpost in which a BSF jawan was killed and a villager was injured.
On July 7: A BSF head constable was killed at Pargwal area when Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing.
On July 15: Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire along LoC and targeted six Indian posts in Poonch sector drawing retaliation from Indian Army.
On July 21: Pakistani troppers fired on Indian posts along the border in Jammu sector, injuring a BSF jawan.
