Darbari pleads innocence, backs Kalmadi

New Delhi: TS Darbari, who was sacked from the post of joint director general of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee in the wake of the corruption scandal that has rocked the event, on Wednesday pleaded innocence.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, Darbari said that there had been a "motivated campaign against me". "My role was only ceremonial. Not even single document can be produced against me," said Darbari.

He also backed Suresh Kalmadi, who has been at the centre of corruption allegations related to the Games. "I have no grievances against Kalmadi. He is the only leader in this country," he said. "My letter is clear to CEO and Sports Secretary. I have not taken any decision. I am not part of any deal with AM Films," he added.
Darbari was sacked on Monday by the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee following persistent plea of the Sports Ministry.
He has been suspended pending an inquiry after his name cropped up in alleged corruption during the Queen's Baton Relay's launch in London. He has handed over the charge to Additional Director General VK Saxena.
